Reproductive Science, Health, and Policy
Due to significant gaps in knowledge among young adults, the Center offers a 10-week course called “Reproductive Science and Health,” in which learners develop a detailed understanding of the reproductive system in different types of bodies. The Center’s faculty teach the science of in vitro fertilization, hormone action and therapy, as well as current research and treatments for major reproductive diseases including polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis and infertility. The course also covers areas of reproductive policy and how policy impacts society.
Reproductive Science Health Communication
To compliment lecture-style learning, the Center launched a research-based “Educational Fact Sheet” program in which students design a scientifically accurate fact sheet on a topic or career in reproductive, maternal or sexual health. While gaining valuable experience in effective communicating science, students generate a creative and informational piece that is accessible to young adults and is publicly available.
Reproductive Health and Science Seminar Series
CRSHE is building a vibrant community of innovators across UCLA dedicated to advancing reproductive health and care through its monthly seminar series. Showcasing cutting-edge research from faculty, students, postdoctoral fellows, and clinical fellows, the series highlights the breadth of reproductive science research on campus while fostering knowledge sharing, interdisciplinary collaboration, and scientific exchange. Each seminar features a presentation by a UCLA professor, principal investigator, or researcher followed by an interactive discussion, creating opportunities for students and trainees to learn about research across campus, connect with potential mentors, explore internship opportunities, and develop new collaborations. By bringing together researchers at every career stage, the seminar series strengthens UCLA’s reproductive health research community and helps cultivate the next generation of leaders in the field.
